Teaching Procedure

Topic: Keeping Our House Clean

Before the start of the lesson, we followed their established routine. It includes attendance, and prayers which is why the teacher handled it because of religious difference.


Motivational Activity: Dancing (Cleaning the House) & Questioning

Dancing (Cleaning the House)

  • The teacher prepared a pre-recorded video of herself dancing to the song "Cleaning the House" by KIDSA English.

  • The learners will first watch the video to know the steps. Then the class will dance altogether to the song.

Questioning

  • The teacher will pose a question of who among the students help their parents in cleaning the house. The students will share their experiences in cleaning the house.

  • After the students share their experiences, the teacher will pose another question on why is it important to clean the house and help the parents.


Discussion and Application: Cleaning Materials

  • The teacher will discuss about the different cleaning materials while providing them real objects.

  • During discussion, the teacher will let the students use the different cleaning materials.

  • The teacher will also provide both the Bahasa term and English term for each of the cleaning material.

  • For their final activity during the discussion, the children will go around the classroom and pick-up the litter that they will see inside the classroom.


Assessment:

  • The teacher will provide 3 activities for the students to choose from.


Classroom Management
  • One of the classroom management techniques that I have observed to be effective, which I also applied during my demo teaching is the use of songs as attention-grabbers.

  • In giving instructions, especially to the young learners, teachers must be very specific on tasks that they want the learners to accomplish.

  • Hand gestures also helps in classroom management as it helps the young learners to understand the instructions.
